TASTING NOTES
Domaine de Terres Blanches Sancerre Blanc 2023 is a classic Loire Valley Sancerre from pure Sauvignon Blanc, combining citrus brightness and chalky minerality for an elegant, food‑friendly white. The estate lies between Bué, Sancerre and Amigny, with around 12–15 hectares dedicated to Sancerre Blanc on predominantly limestone soils. The vines grow on caillottes (hard, stony limestone) and “terres blanches” (clay‑limestone), two of the area’s finest terroirs for Sauvignon Blanc, giving the wine tension, aromatic precision and a pronounced mineral stamp. The wine is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc using a gentle, traditional Sancerre approach: soft pressing, cold settling to clarify the must while protecting its aromatic potential, followed by temperature‑controlled fermentation of about 20 days and ageing on fine lees for at least six months to build volume and complexity. In the glass, Sancerre Blanc 2023 is a pale, bright straw yellow with green glints that underline its freshness and youth. The nose is floral and citrus‑driven, with white blossom, broom, lemon and grapefruit, subtle blackcurrant leaf notes and a clear mineral impression reminiscent of wet stone, typical of Sauvignon grown on limestone. On the palate, the attack is lively and refreshing; the texture is slender yet enveloping, with precise fruit, a taut, linear, saline structure and a long, pleasantly mineral finish. Domaine de Terres Blanches Sancerre Blanc 2023 is ideal as an aperitif and shines with oysters, raw and lightly cooked shellfish, grilled fish, seafood platters, goat’s cheeses such as Crottin de Chavignol, and fresh Mediterranean‑style dishes.
