TASTING NOTES
Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Kabinett 2022 is produced from Riesling grapes grown on an imposing hillside, which opens out like an amphitheatre from south-west to south-east, and has been cultivated since Celtic times. The vines used for this Riesling grow on slopes of up to 55° and are exclusively south-facing. The soil is rich in silvery-grey slate, very exposed to the weather and the vines are 30 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand in the second ten days of September, destemmed and gently pressed. The must is cold clarified overnight and undergoes spontaneous fermentation. The fermentation is stopped when the desired residual sugar is reached and the wine is aged for 5 months before bottling. It has a straw-yellow colour with golden reflections, a bouquet of grapefruit, pomelo and bergamot, and a characteristic smell of hydrocarbon and enamel. The palate is exotic and refreshing, with a delicate balance of grape sweetness and elegant acidity.
