TASTING NOTES
The Gewürztraminer Réserve 2024 from Gustave Lorentz is an aromatic, enveloping white, a symbol of pure Alsatian essence, born from the passion of a historic Bergheim winery managed by the Lorentz family's seventh generation, with over 250 years of winemaking heritage. Grown in the vines of the Altemberg de Bergheim – a prestigious proprietary Grand Cru covering 40% of the surface, classified in 1983 – on clay-limestone soils that impart deep minerality and unique concentration. Alsace, nestled between the Vosges and the Rhine, boasts a cool, sunny microclimate perfect for enhancing Gewürztramner's spiciness, a 100% aromatic variety native to the region where "Gewürz" evokes exotic aromas and an opulent structure balanced by vibrant acidity. The 2024 vintage, warm and dry, produced healthy grapes hand-harvested in October, fermented in stainless steel with selected yeasts and aged for five months, ready to evolve for 7-10 years. In the glass, it gleams with a pale luminous gold, inviting and bright. On the nose, it captivates with an intense explosion of lychee, rose, ripe peach, apricot, passion fruit, ginger, and white pepper, interwoven with exotic floral notes. On the palate, it is warm and rich, with a soft entry, refreshing acidity that extends persistence, off-dry balance (8-9 g/L residual sugars), and an elegant finish of vanilla and minerals. Perfect for refined aperitifs, blue cheeses like Munster or Roquefort, and spicy Asian dishes. A fun fact? Gustave Lorentz excels in international awards thanks to sustainable practices: Alsace is France's greenest region, with 10% of vines treated via sexual confusion (against insecticides), 25% certified organic, and 50% at Haute Valeur Environnementale level 3.
