The Barolo MGA Sant’Anna Riserva Magnum 2013 from Tenuta L’Illuminata is a single–cru selection from La Morra, bottled in an impressive 1.5 L magnum with individual gift box, ideal for collectors, fine dining and special occasions. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo, it represents one of the most elegant and age–worthy expressions of the Sant’Anna vineyard, now in full expressive maturity yet still offering excellent potential for further bottle ageing. In the glass, this Barolo Riserva shows a brilliant, deep garnet red with delicate orange hues at the rim, typical of a long–aged Barolo. The nose is wide and layered: dried flowers (rose, violet), cherry and small red fruits, followed by sweet spices, liquorice, fine tobacco, undergrowth and subtle balsamic and ethereal nuances that underline its graceful evolution. On the palate, it is full and harmonious, with a dense yet silky tannic weave, lively acidity that carries the sip and a long, persistent finish where liquorice, spice and a pleasing savoury note return. The 2013 vintage in La Morra is remembered for particularly elegant, fresh and long–lived Barolos: wines with a fine, fragrant profile, well–defined yet integrated tannins and a marked saline–mineral streak, ideal for extended maturation. In Sant’Anna Riserva 2013 these traits are on show in exemplary fashion, and the magnum format amplifies them further: the larger volume of wine relative to the oxygen entering through the cork allows for slower, more harmonious ageing, preserving freshness, aromatic detail and depth over time. The single gift box enhances its status as a grand bottle for gifting or collecting, even without a wooden case, while still offering an elegant presentation for wine shops and restaurants.
