The Südtirol Alto Adige DOC Pinot Grigio 2025 Winzerberg is an elegant and versatile white wine, produced by the Winzerberg winery, reflecting the 2025 vintage with optimal conditions of sunny summers, moderate rainfall, and a dry autumn, yielding ripe, fresh grapes rich in fruity aromas. This harvest favoured balanced ripening, vibrant acidity, and light structure—ideal for an approachable Pinot Grigio with evolutionary potential. Alto Adige, on the Renon slopes near Bolzano between 400 and 600 metres, boasts alluvial, gravelly, and warm soils ensuring perfect drainage and smoky minerality. The nocturnal temperature swings, driven by alpine winds, preserve freshness and intensify varietal perfumes, making this DOC an excellence for structured, aromatic Pinot Grigio. The Pinot Grigio (Grauburgunder), a mutation of Pinot Noir widespread in Alto Adige, produces wines with fruity or mineral profiles depending on the terroir, at medium alcohol (12-13.5%) and early ripening. Here it excels in versatility, yielding full-bodied yet sleek whites with notes of pear, apple, and spicy touches, perfectly enhancing the South Tyrolean character. Visually, it presents a bright straw-yellow colour with golden hues, clear and lively. On the nose, it offers a fruity bouquet of ripe pear, apple, honey, and hazelnut, with subtle floral and mineral notes. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, pleasant, and rich in extract, with balanced freshness, a persistent, savoury, and harmonious finish. Pairs beautifully with mushroom dishes, flavoursome fish, shellfish, or South Tyrolean specialities like canederli.
