TASTING NOTES
The Nuragus di Cagliari DOC 2025 from Antonella Corda is a fresh, authentic white, a pure expression of the indigenous Nuragus grape and Serdiana's unique terroir in southern Sardinia near Cagliari. This "boutique winery", founded in 2010 by agronomist Antonella Corda – heir to the historic Argiolas family – blends tradition and innovation with sustainable practices: organic fertilisation, biological pest control, natural irrigation, and 15 hectares of vineyards in organic conversion on calcareous-marly soils, perfect for enhancing the Nuragus's minerality and freshness. This millennial variety is known for its crunchy acidity and low yields. In the glass, it shows a bright straw yellow with greenish highlights that underscore its vivacity. On the nose, delicate aromas of green apple, autumn pear, citrus, and a subtle briny marine note emerge, sober yet elegant. On the palate, it is dry, lean, and sapid, with persistent acidity, fine structure, and a clean finish of aromatic herbs, thanks to six months' lees ageing in steel. The 2025 vintage, with a balanced spring and hand-harvest in early October, favoured healthy grapes from old vines, spontaneously fermented without added sulphites, for 1-2 years' evolution. Compared to the fruitier 2024, the 2025 accentuates sapidity and mineral tension due to reduced yields and breezy climate. Ideal at 8-10°C with raw seafood, oysters, grilled fish, fresh cheeses, or Sardinian antipasti (malloreddus). Fun fact: the motto "Di madre in vigna" celebrates the family bond with Serdiana's land.
